DFirstCoder SFD service update for Volkswagen Group vehicles

DFirstCoder SFD Service Update: Approximately 6 Included SFD Unlock Sessions for Volkswagen Group Vehicles

DFirstCoder is updating its SFD unlock service to better support the growing number of Volkswagen Group vehicles requiring SFD authorization. This update explains the current included SFD unlock sessions, important policy changes, and what A VIN Subscription users need to know.

  • New App: Around Aug. 1
  • SFD Policy Effective: Aug. 10

Currently Includes Approximately 6 SFD Unlock Sessions

Your A VIN Subscription continues to include all DFirstCoder software features.

SFD unlocks are provided as a separate service and are not part of the software subscription itself.

To make SFD-protected functions easier to use, eligible A VIN subscriptions currently include approximately six SFD unlock sessions. For most users, this is enough to complete the initial coding of supported functions.

As our service continues to evolve, the number of included SFD unlock sessions may be adjusted in future versions.

Rising SFD Unlock Costs

More and more VAG vehicles now require SFD unlocks, and many functions require separate unlocks for different control modules.

In the past, when only a small number of vehicles required SFD unlocks, DFirstCoder absorbed these costs to provide a smoother user experience. As SFD-protected vehicles and usage continue to grow, the overall cost of providing SFD unlock services has increased significantly.

Vehicles That May Require SFD Unlock

Some newer VAG models require an SFD unlock before certain coding or adaptation functions.

Examples include: VW ID. Series |VW Golf (2021+) |VW Lamando L (2022+) |VW Talagon |VW Teramont / Teramont X |VW Viloran / Tavendor |Škoda Octavia (2021+) |Audi A3 (2021+) |Audi Q6 |Audi Q5 e-tron. More models may require SFD in the future.
